Who we are
nyhealthcareguide.org is an educational website operated by a private organization. We are not a government agency, not a home care agency, not a fiscal intermediary, not a trust, and not a law firm. We are not New York Medicaid, HRA, the Department of Health, OTDA, or ICAN.
What we collect
If you use the caregiver checklist tool at /tools/caregiver-checklist or a contact form, we may collect your name, phone, email, ZIP, and the answers you provide about your role, Medicaid status, current care, the proposed personal assistant’s relationship, and what you want to understand first. We also collect basic technical data (such as browser type, pages viewed, IP address, and approximate location) to run and improve the site.
We use Google Analytics and Vercel Analytics to understand how the site is used. These tools may set cookies or collect device identifiers. We do not ask for, and you should not enter, Medicaid or Medicare ID numbers, Social Security numbers, plan authorization numbers, or details about specific diagnoses or medications.
How we use it
We use your information to send the caregiver checklist and the educational next steps you requested and, if you consented, so the site operator can follow up with educational information about CDPAP, agency home care, and Medicaid home care appeals. We do not use this site to authorize care, decide eligibility or hours, or arrange services with any provider.
If you provide a phone number and check the phone/text consent box, you agree that the site operator may call or text you at that number, including with automated technology. Consent is not a condition of receiving educational content. Message and data rates may apply. You can withdraw phone consent at any time by replying STOP to a text or telling a caller you want no more outreach.
How we hold leads
Leads and form submissions are held first-party by the site operator. They are never passed to any home care agency, fiscal intermediary, pooled trust, trustee, or attorney, and we do not sell your information as a list. We may share data with service providers who host the site, store submissions, send messages, or support operations, under agreements that limit their use.
Your choices
You can ask us not to contact you further by emailing hello@nyhealthcareguide.org or by telling a caller you want no more outreach. You can also ask what information we hold about you and request that it be deleted. For free independent help, call NY Connects at 1-800-342-9871, HIICAP at 1-800-701-0501, or ICAN at 1-844-614-8800 (TTY 711).
Official programs
Home care authorizations, hours, and appeals are decided only by your plan, HRA or your county district, the New York State Department of Health, and OTDA’s fair hearing system. Always confirm rules on health.ny.gov/cdpap, otda.ny.gov/hearings, or with a free counselor.
Children
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes
We may update this policy. The effective date and version above will change when we do. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
